Where do Pests go During Winter?

Even though we love winters, there are a lot of pros and cons. While we love cold and snow, it might be a problematic thing for the pest kingdom. While some pests do survive in the winters, others don’t. Here is what you need to know.

Mosquitoes

These are some of the most annoying pests you will face during the summer months. Imagine you are sitting outside, trying to relax and you are being bitten by mosquitoes. They generally hang near the patio furniture and are always ready to feed on you.

Every time you will open the window, few will come inside. However, as soon as the temperature goes down, mosquitoes become inactive. Colder weather reduces the reproduction process of the mosquitoes, but they don’t die.

They hibernate in the tree holes or grounds or even in your basement if they enter inside your house. Thus, it is better to opt for Oklahoma’s mosquito treatment as the experts will clean all the possible areas where mosquitoes can hide.

Bed bugs

Unlike mosquitoes, they will stay with you indoors and can survive without food for months. Also, winter does not bother them. They will stay in your bed since they feel warm and cozy. Unless you are calling for the bed bug exterminator, they will survive there throughout the year.

Even though they remain active during winters, the infestation threat is less in the winters. Since they don't like winters, they become inactive during winters. Once the season is over, once again, they will become active.

Cockroaches

Roaches have been active for millions of years, and they turned into adaptable creatures across the world. However, if you are worried about whether they can survive during winters, they can, not just during the winters but throughout the year.

As long as they can access a moist environment, they can survive everything. When it comes to the German cockroaches, they need humid habitat indoors. Along with that, they need food. Thus, you will find them near the residential bathrooms and kitchen, mostly during winter.

However, when it comes to the American cockroaches, they stay outdoor during the summers. As soon as the temperature goes down, they migrate into commercial buildings like grocery stores, hospitals, and other places.

Rodents

They are other pesky pets, which never hibernate even during winters. They eat a large amount of food as soon as the temperature starts falling. Consequently, it helps them to maintain their body temperature for surviving during the colder months.

Your house is undoubtedly one of the best places for them to survive. A small opening in your house is okay for them to enter. Rodents are strong and if you feel that your house is safe from them, make sure to check if your house has any cracks or holes.
